YSRC's Akarsh programme runs into rough weather

The YSRC moved the AP High Court and secured a direction for the police to enable their entry.

Kurnool: Section 144 of the criminal procedure code (CrPc), preventing unlawful assembly, was clamped in four villages including Jammalamadugu town in Kadapa district and the orders will be in force till November 27.

Jammalamadugu DSP Kola Krishnan said the situation was under control in Gorigenur village where Yuvajana Congress (YSRC) sympathisers were under threat from the followers of marketing minister, C. Adinarayana Reddy.

YSRC’s Akarsh programme ran into rough weather in Kadapa district as Mr Adinarayana Reddy’s supporters obstructed YSRC leaders from entering Gorigenur village. Upon court orders, some leaders of the YSRC visited today amid tight security. Villagers were willing to join the YSRC but the police barred the leaders citing security reasons.

Former Kadapa MP, Y.S. Avinash Reddy, constituency leader Sudhir Reddy and their followers planned a visit to Gorigenur village to instil confidence among their cadre. But the police allegedly advised them not to go there as the situation was tenuous and might flare up.

The YSRC moved the AP High Court and secured a direction for the police to enable their entry.

DSP Krishnan said the YSRC leaders visited Gorigenur as freely as was possible within the legal requirements of upholding Section 144 of CrPc.

A police officer at Jammalamadugu said there were several villages in the Jammalamadugu constituency that were on edge as enmity could explode between TDP and YSRCP. The police will have to work extra hard to erase the perception that they were working under instructions from marketing minister Adinarayana Reddy.
