Kozhikode: The United Democratic Front on Saturday observed a dawn-to-dusk hartal in Azhiyur in protest against the attack of Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) cadre by CPM. Shops near national and state highways along with village roads were shut down. The chombal fishing harbor was also affected by the day-long hartal.
League cadres Munazir (26), Nadhir(28), Muhamm-ed Shabheem(19) were attacked in the premises of Azhiyur High School and Kallamala. The incident happened on Thursday at around 2 pm.
Ummar Pandikashala, IUML district president, M.A Razak, secretary, and Youth League state secretary P.K Firoz visited them in Kozhikode Government hospital.
Injured CPM activist Ramesh(29) was also admitted in Thalassery cooperative hospital.
