Rains to lessen gradually in Tamil Nadu over next three Days: RMC
Chennai:The Regional Meteorological Centre has predicted that the rainfall across the state would gradually lessen for next three days.
Dr S. Balachandran, deputy director general of meteorology, said on Friday that Northeast monsoon has been active over Tamil Nadu. “Thursday’s low pressure area over interior Tamil Nadu and neighbourhood weakened and now lies as a trough of low at mean sea level over southeast Arabian sea and adjoining Maldives-Lakshadweep area,” he said. The rainfall would slowly reduce in the next three days, he pointed out.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places over Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram, Sivagangai, Virudhunagar, Pudukottai, Ariyalur, Nagapattinam, Tiruvarur and Thanjavur districts on Friday night, he said.
“As far as Chennai is concerned, the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy with light rain likely to occur in some areas. Maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 32 and 25 degree Celsius respectively,” the weather expert noted.
With the low pressure continuing to persist over the interior parts of Tamil Nadu, it has created a strong Easterly surge bringing conducive conditions for rains across most parts of Tamil Nadu. “While coastal areas will continue to receive rains on Friday, the interior areas will possibly also get its share of rains on Friday, as convergence of dry Northerlies and moist Easterlies fall over parts of Northwest interior Tamil Nadu and adjoining parts of South Interior Karnataka,” said another weatherman.
