Kochi: The Aluva sub-district pipped Ernakulam at the last minute to retain the overall championship in the 31st Ernakulam Revenue District Youth Festival.
Aluva, backed by the stellar performance in the Arabic and Sanskrit competition items, bagged 828 points while Ernakulam finished a close second with 821 points. North Paravoor came third with 762 points.
In the higher secondary section, Ernakulam and North Paravoor sub districts shared the first position with 338 points while Aluva finished second with 332 points. Perumbavoor with 318 points became the third.
In the school-wise results, St Teresa's Convent GHS topped with 111 points followed by Aluva Vidhyadhiraja Vidhya Mandir (102) and Manikamangalam NSS HSS (92).
Ernakulam secured the first position in the high school section also with 338 points while Aluva and Perumbavoor gained the second and third position with 326 and 279 points respectively. St Augustine's GHSs, Muvattupuzha secured first with 83 points.
Yet again Aluva retained first position in Sanskrit festival with 81 points. North Paravoor and Perumbavoor in second position with 79 points while Thripuni-thura gained the third position with 78 points.
For Arabic festival also Aluva is in the first place with 89 points.
The festival got noticed by the government’s cost cutting measures on account of the floods. There were no prizes except the certificates.
