Government working to ease city's traffic chaos: Dr G Parameshwar
Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister Dr G. Parameshwar on Friday conducted surprise checks on the city’s traffic situation, white topping works, condition of hospitals and garbage.
He told reporters that everyone in the city, including himself, has had bitter taste of the city’s traffic and the government was working towards mitigating the problem.
He said the government was examining the pros no cons of various initiatives to solve traffic woes.
After visiting an Indira canteen at BEL Circle, he commended the quality of food and its cleanliness. He said he was carrying out surprise inspection at Indira canteens to check its food quality and cleanliness.
He expressed happiness about the quality and positive feedback from customers at the Indira canteen.
He was, however, unhappy with the slow progress of white topping at Hebbal Ring Road and directed the engineers and contractors to expedite the work in a time bound manner.
The minister was accompanied by Mayor Gangambike, BBMP Commissioner N. Manjunath Prasad and BBMP officials. He also inspected a hospital at Ganganagar and a library at Lottegollahalli.
‘Survey civic amenities land’
Ruling party leader in BBMP M. Shivaraju has dashed off a letter calling for a survey to identify and protect the BBMP properties earmarked for civic amenities.
Shivaraju urged the BBMP Commissioner to appoint surveyors to survey the properties in private layout and fix the boundaries and fence them. He also said the surveyors should survey the lakes.
