Global runners to take part in Trivandrum marathon
Thiruvananthapuram: The Department of Sports and the Kerala Government is organising a midnight marathon in the state capital on December 1 to raise fund for Rebuilding Kerala initiative. Elite runners from national and international level will take part in the marathon, which is held every year.
Sujith Vaidyan, an organiser of Trivandrum Marathon, said that the marathon will be conducted as per international standards by Trivandrum Runners Club. “This year the theme is rebuilding Kerala. There will be runners from the African nation including Kenya, Ethiopia and national elite group. The marathon will be flagged off at midnight, with the route being from Kowdiar to Ayurveda College,” said Mr Sujith.
The event will be a timed one, with prize money for the winners. As part of the non-competitive segment, a 2 km fun-run will be held. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will flag off the family fun run at Manaveeyam Veedhi at 9 pm.
