Kolkata: Trinamool Congress activists on Thursday took to the streets across West Bengal for the second consecutive day, demanding roll back of the demonetisation move, as party chief Mamata Banerjee trained her guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi.
Banerjee met President Pranab Mukherjee in New Delhi during the day, while TMC workers took out marches in different parts of West Bengal accusing the Centre of causing immense hardship to the common people by demonetising high denomination notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000.
"We are mobilising people against the Centre's decision. Our movement will continue," state Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, who participated in the march, said.
Power minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay and city mayor and minister Sovan Chatterjee also participated among others in the march.
TMC said that it would organise similar protests in all blocks in the state on Friday.
The party would also organise a rally in the city on November 28, with Mamata Banerjee expected to be present in it.
The TMC supremo is scheduled to address a meeting in Lucknow on November 29 and in Patna the next day.
Banerjee on Wednesday took part in a demonstration in the national capital against demonetisation and attacked the Prime Minister, saying the government must go because the country was not safe in his hands.
