Telangana: Transferred officials wait for muhurtam
Hyderabad: Most of the officials transferred in the transport department have not yet taken charge as they are waiting for good muhurtam.
The TS government had transferred about 40 officials, including district transport officer, regional transport officer, motor vehicle inspector, assistant MVI and other staff on Monday, and directed them to start work at the places they were transferred to immediately.
However, no official took charge on Tuesday as the day is not considered auspicious. Besides, Tuesday was ‘Asthami’ as per Hindu calendar which is generally believed to be inauspicious when one takes up a new responsibility.
On Wednesday, a few officials took charge but they were limited to AMVI, MVI and other staff. On Tuesday and Wednesday, the existing and non-relieved staff had to slog to clear the online slots.
In Medchal, only one MVI, E. Swamy, was overseeing driving, learning and fitness tests. DTO P. Purushottam, who was transferred and not relieved, took the initiative to clear the rush at Pet Basheerabad RTA office. In south zone, the pendency increased in two days and motorists from other districts suffered due to shortage of staff at RTA offices.
