Ensure pass percentage is at least 60 in junior colleges: Telangana minister

HYDERABAD: Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiyam Srihari has exhorted principals of all 404 Government junior colleges in the state to ensure a pass percentage of at least 60 in the Intermediate public exams 2017. He asked them to hold enrollment drives aggressively so that admissions cross 2 lakh in the next academic year.

He pointed out that enrolment increased by 40,000 students this year compared to 2015. The same spirit should be shown next year also, the minister said.
Mr.Srihari told higher authorities to take steps to conduct study hours in all colleges with only three months remaining for the main exams.

The Education Minister was addressing a workshop for principals of all GJCs held here on Wednesday. He regretted the neglect of Intermediate education in the combined state.

“It is for this reason Telangana government is giving top priority to revive this sector. Funds are being released to improve infrastructure with enough class rooms, practical and computer labs as well as library besides toilet facilities, R.O plant, bio-metric devices, CCTVs etc," he said. The minister suggested principals to take the help of local representatives to extend mid-day meal scheme in colleges.
