Elderly woman finds Andhra Pradesh cop's kidnapped son

A kidnap case was been registered at the Byrareddipalli police station in Palamaner and the police are further investigating.

Bengaluru: A three-year-old son of a police sub-inspector in Andhra Pradesh, who was abducted late last week, was traced to Bengaluru on Tuesday. The victim, Sharath, was abducted by an unknown person while he was playing in front of his house in Palamaner circle, and was abandoned near Pai Layout entrance at Tin Factory, the police said.

“Sharath is the son of Krishna Mohan, a police sub-inspector attached to the Byrareddipalli police station in Palamaner taluk in Andhra Pradesh, nearly 120 kilometres from here,” said Narayana Swamy, a police sub-inspector at Mahadevapura police station.

A Good Samaritan elderly woman named Thippamma spotted the boy, who was crying and standing alone on the road, at around 5.30 pm on November 19. She wondered if the boy was lost and waited with him for sometime, hoping that someone would come in search of him. However, no one came and she took him to her house, gave him a bath and food. The next day she brought him to Mahadevapura police station.

The city police then circulated the boy’s photograph within their circle, which was soon recognised by the Andhra Pradesh police teams, who had come in search of the boy. The AP policemen then approached Mahadevapura police station and confirmed the identity of the boy on Wednesday and informed his father, who rushed to Bengaluru. Within two hours the boy was reunited with his family members.

A kidnap case was been registered at the Byrareddipalli police station in Palamaner and the police are further investigating. The AP police teams have also procured CCTV footage from nearby areas, where a man was seen accompanying the child and trying to stop vehicles. The man had brought the child to Bengaluru near Tin Factory and abandoned him there, the police stated.
