DC Impact: NGOs and doctors help couple
Hyderabad: Santosh and Chandrakala, the couple outside Gandhi Hospital, have been rehabilitated by the Gandhi Hospital authorities and non-government organisation which provided them relief material on Wednesday morning.
Gandhi Hospital doctors swung into action when health minister Dr Laxma Reddy asked them to ensure that proper rehabilitation of the family is ensured.
An ambulance was provided and the family has been placed in a temporary accommodation in the nearby area close to the hospital so that they can bring the baby for regular check-up.
A proper schedule has been given to the family for the young infants health routine and volunteers of a non-government organisation are also providing food and milk packets to the family.
A senior doctor at Gandhi Hospital said, “The husband Santosh is worried that, following the recent demonetisation, if the family goes back and they have to come back for check-up he will not be able to arrange the cash. Hence he is insisting on doing odd jobs in and around the hospital. This will help him to earn his daily wages. With the situation that the family is right now, the volunteers are helping them with the basics and medically we will support.”
Doctors examined the six-day-old infant who had spent the night out in the cold for two days. They decided that everything was normal but would require proper breast feeding. The mother has been counselled for the same.
