Osmania University rules out public meets on its premises

Reddy was planning to hold a meeting at OU on Wednesday, which was obstructed by the police, who also took into custody some student leaders.

Hyderabad: Though various student leaders and political parties are planning public meetings in Osmania University campus on Friday, the varsity authorities have denied permission insisting that political meetings would not be entertained on its premises.

Sources said Congress leader and Malkajgiri Member of Parliament A. Revanth

One of them, Mr. Naresh D, said that the public meetings were not just meant to discuss the ongoing RTC issue, but they were being organised to take stock of issues pertaining to students.

“The problem of unemployment remains unresolved even after the formation of Telangana state,” he said.

Three public meetings, in coordination with some political parties, were scheduled from Wednesday to Friday. However, the Dean made it clear that there won't be permissions for public meetings. Castigating the decision and demanding permission, students sat in protest opposite the Registrar’s office but to no avail.
