Get ready for civic polls, K Chandrasekhar Rao tells officials
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is reported to have urged municipal administration department officials to inform the State Election Commission (SEC) about the State Government’s preparedness to conduct the municipal elections following High Court’s dismissal of cases against the elections.
Sources said Mr Rao, while reminding the officials of completing the pre–election process about two months ago, also asked the authorities to finish pending works. They were asked to exhort the SEC to issue the election schedule.
According to municipal administration authorities, division and reservation of wards and other such formalities have been completed and the SEC has published ward-wise voters’ list and number of polling stations in Urban Local Bodies.
Notification for reserving posts of mayor, deputy mayor, chairpersons and vice-chairpersons of corporations and municipalities would be completed within two or three days. Subsequently, the SEC will take a call on the election schedule, officials added.
