Thirumala-Peyad road in bad shape

PWD Assistant Executive Engineer Rajmohan Thampy said that the department is planning to do patch work of the stretch immediately.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thirumala- Peyad road, a major road connecting city with the outskirts including Kattakada and Vellarda, is in dire state with the Public Works Department (PWD) turning a blind eye. Daily commuters are having a hard time passing through the potholed stretch, posing danger to two wheelers and other commuters alike. Absence of proper drainage system and damaged water supply lines are sited as some of the reasons for the sad plight of the road.

“The condition of the road has worsened in the past couple of months. Large potholes have formed posing huge threat to two wheelers. Being a main bus route, it’s really sad that the road is in this bad shape. Lack of proper drainage system is one prime reason for the plight of the road. The authorities should address this issue first to avoid repeated damage of the stretch,” said Ajay S Kumar, a resident of Peyad.

PWD Assistant Executive Engineer Rajmohan Thampy said that the department is planning to do patch work of the stretch immediately. “We have noticed the issue and have arranged work to immediately repair the potholes to facilitate smooth flow of vehicles,” said Mr Thampy.
