Need status on sexual harassment plaints: Hyderabad High Court
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities of the Telangana state government to inform the status of progress in constituting a high-level Committee to go into numerous complaints of sexual exploitation raised by the women artists working in the 24 crafts of the Telugu Film Industry. The status is to be submitted within a week.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Thottathil B. Radhakrishnan and Justice V. Ramasubramanian was dealing with the PIL by Ms P. Sandhya of the Progressive Women Organisation, and others questioning the inaction of the government in not taking any steps to form the High Level Committee.
Ms Vasudha Nagraj, counsel for the petitioners told the court the cinematography minister has convened a meeting to take steps to constitute the committee after the representation of the petitioners in April this year.
The bench adjourned the matter for a week.
