KSRTC daily revenue touches new high

The management has ordered immediate repair of buses in the garage and to get them ready for operation.

Kochi: The daily revenue collection of the KSRTC touched new heights with the total earnings reaching '7.95 crore on Monday.

“The corporation achie-ved a record collection of '7,95,62,424 on October 22, aided by optimum utilisation of services and dedicated efforts from all section of employees,” said Mr Tomin J. Thachank-ary, chairman and managing director.

The previous highest daily collection was recorded on February 17 when the corporation raked in '7.85 crore. However, that was when the private buses were on an indefinite strike and the corporation operated 250 additional services.

The record collection this time was achieved through proper planning. “Inspectors were deplo-yed for point duty at all key points and were entrusted with the task of preventing operation of convoy services and scheduling services on the basis of passenger demand,” he said.

Another reason was the high attendance of bus crew after the management transferred many to their home depots.

Mr Thachankary had given a target for the three zones in advance and asked the officers in charge to take the initiative to achieve the figures.

The north zone achieved a daily revenue collection of '2.10 crore (target '1.95 crore- l02 per cent), central zone '2.944 crore (target '2.945 crore- 99.82 per cent) and the south zone '3 crore (target '3.17 crore - 94.78 per cent).

“We’ve prepared an action plan to achieve similar collection figures in the coming days too,” he said. The KSRTC has a total of 6,339 buses. The management has ordered immediate repair of buses in the garage and to get them ready for operation.
