Health worries affected sale of fireworks

Restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court on the fireworks business has made traders more skeptical about the prospective sales.

Hyderabad: The sale of firecrackers was not good this year and traders are not sure if they would have a good business going ahead.

Restrictions imposed by the Supreme Court on the fireworks business has made traders more skeptical about the prospective sales.

“This year the market has been very dull. We are not expecting the kind of sales that we used to see earlier. There is not much enthusiasm. In the last five years, we have found that many people are voluntarily not buying firecrackers due to health reasons. The sale on Diwali is due to festive customary demand,” said Jitender Kumar of Standard Fireworks.

The timing by SC verdict and the demand for green firecrackers have left many of the traders clueless.

There are hardly four to five items which are smokeless and noiseless, say traders.
