Rameshwaram: 5 Nagai fishermen taken by SL Navy, other fishers chased away

On being chased, the shocked fishermen began to return to shore, but the Lankan Navy personnel allegedly smashed one of the boats belonging to one Praveen and damaged it badly, they said.
Rameshwaram/ Pudokottai: At least five fishermen from Nagapattinam dt fishing in the Palk Straits near Neduntheevu were arrested and taken away by the SriLankan Navy in the wee hours of Tuesday for allegedly poaching into their territorial waters and their fishing boat dragged away to Kankesanthurai port.
Reports reaching here said that the five fishermen were being interrogated at the Kankesanthurai naval camp, raising the level of resentment among local fishers here.
