Telangana Cabinet clears Bills for session
Hyderabad: The Cabinet which met at Pragathi Bhavan for over seven hours on Monday approved eight Bills to be introduced in the Legislature Winter Session to replace ordinances issued earlier.
The legislations include the Panchayat Raj Bill to strengthen villages, Revenue Records of Right Amendment Bill to empower farmer coordination councils to maintain land records along with revenue department and the Stamps and Registrations Amendment Bill to issue new pattadar passbooks to all landowners.
The government will also introduce the Farmers Coordination Councils Bill to organise farmers from the village to the state level, and amendment Bills for the PD Act, Gaming Act VAT Act, Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, Excise Act and a Bill to set up the Road Development Corporation.
The Cabinet approved the Bill to make Telugu compulsory up to Class 12 besides setting up private universities.
Sources said the issue of TS TD working president A. Revanth Reddy figured prominently. The Cabinet discussed the impact of Mr Revanth Reddy joining the Congress. Chief Minis-ter Chandrasekhar Rao, who chaired the meeting, asked ministers to counter the allegations made by Mr Revanth Reddy over TRS government helping AP ministers get contracts in Telangana state.
The Cabinet decided to pass resolutions in the Legislature again on pending issues to build pressure on Centre.
These include bifurcation of High Court, women reservations in Legislature, increase in reservations for Muslims/ STs, I-T waiver for Singareni staff.
The Cabinet also finalised the agenda for the Legislature session and political strategy to counter the Opposition criticism.
The amendment to Land Record Rights Bill will provide special financial assistance to farmers every year via bank accounts. Amendment to Singareni Act to facilitate compassionate appointments in lieu of dependent jobs will also be passed.
