Hyderabad: Home guards demand hike in salaries
Hyderabad: The Home Guards Association has launched a protest seeking an increase in wages and other demands at their office in Amberpet. They alleged that though the government had promised measures for the welfare of home guards, nothing has been done so far.
Meanwhile, there was drama at Amberpet when a home guard threatened to commit suicide if the government did not allow their demands. The association has launched a fast unto death to pressurise the government.
The association demanded that their salary should be hiked and a reservation of 15 per cent should be provided for them in police constable recruitment. They also demanded that their posts should be made permanent in the department and to end contract appointments.
Earlier, the Telangana government had promised that a reservation of 8 per cent would be given to home guards while recruiting police constables. However, the promise has not been fulfilled yet.
