Police Foil Car Yatra of Techies, Some Reach Rajahmundry, meet Bhuvaneswari
Vijayawada: Large numbers of pro-Telugu Desam IT employees, divided into groups, started in a convoy of cars from various areas of Hyderabad towards Rajamahendravaram on Sunday, but were not allowed entry at the borders by the AP police.
The Car Sanghibhava Yatra was organised to express solidarity with Chandrababu Naidu, currently in remand in the central prison following his arrest in the Skill Development scam. Some techies managed to meet Chandrababu's wife, Nara Bhuvaneswari and express their solidarity.
Traffic was jammed due to the arrival of a large number of cars at Anumanchipalli on the AP border. The IT employees argued with the police and asked if they required a visa to enter AP.
In anticipation of the techies’ arrival, the AP police erected check posts in NTR district, Guntur and Palnadu districts. However, a few techies managed to reach Rajahmundry through interior roads.
The police, at Anumanchipalli and Garikapadu near Jaggayyapeta, checked every car, collected details and allowed only normal travellers to proceed to their destinations. There was traffic jam for some time in the morning but the police later restored normalcy.
The IT employees associated with TD claimed they had the right to go to Rajahmundry. They alleged that the Jagan government falsely implicated Naidu in the Skill Development scam. “All those who work in the IT sector in AP and TS got jobs due to Chandrababu,” they said.
Some ordinary motorists on their way to Vijayawada, Eluru, Rajahmundry and Visakhapatnam in their cars were irked over the checking of their vehicles and mobile phones by the police. They deplored they were going to their native places for their personal work and they were not associated with the TD. The police allowed such motorists to proceed further.
Meanwhile some techies went via Khammam and Bhadrachalam and entered AP. A few techies reached Rajahmundry through interior roads by avoiding the highway. They went to the camp site where Nara Brahmani was staying, met her and expressed their solidarity.
