Landslip hits train services on Araku route

Visakhapatnam: A huge landslip, caused by incessant rains, fell on the tracks between Manabar- Jarati stations in south Odisha on the Kothavalasa-Kirandul line of Waltair Division in the early hours of Sunday. The railway officials rushed to the site with men and materials and the restoration works are being carried out on war footing, said a railway release.

The official said six trains have been short-terminated due to the mishap. They include train No.18107 Rourkela-Jagdalpur express leaving Rourkela which left on Saturday was short terminated at Koraput and on Sunday left from Koraput as 18108 to Rourkela, hence there was no service between Koraput – Jagdalpur.

The train No. 18447 Bhubaneswar-Jagdalpur Hirakhand express which left Bhubaneswar on Saturday was short terminated at Koraput and started from Koraput to Bhubaneswar on Sunday. There was no service between Koraput – Jagdalpur. The train No. 18514 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Night express which started from Visakhapatnam on Saturday night was short terminated at Koraput and returned from Koraput as 18513 to Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The train No. 08551 Visakhapatnam-Kirandul Night passenger which was to leave Visakhapatnam on Sunday will be short terminated at Koraput and return from Koraput as 08552 to Visakhapatnam. The train No.08552 Kirandul -Visakhapatnam passenger ran up to Jeypore on Sunday and returned back as 08551 from Jeypore to Kirandul. The train No. 18006 Jagdalpur-Howrah Samaleswari Express which left Jagdalpur Sunday will be short-terminated at Jeypore and the empty rake will be returned back to Jagdalpur. The train No. 18005 Howrah-Jagdalpur Samaleswari express which left Howrah on Saturday was short terminated at Rayagada and returned from there as 18006 to Howrah.
