Modern trauma care unit in Kozhikode MCH soon
KOZHIKODE: The health minister K.K. Shailaja on Monday announced a state-of-the-art trauma care unit for Medical College Hospital here to be set up soon.
Inaugurating the renovated hi-tech pharmacy and paramedical students' hostel on the MCH campus, she said it would be a best in class with an outlay of Rs 8.4 crore.
An amount of Rs 8 crore was allocated for the project in the budget which will also be used for it.
A Rs 200 crore master plan for all-out development of the hospital also is underway with Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) support.
She said that the state government had improved the facilities of MCH by sourcing funds from various sectors.
To ensure better care for patients, as many as 235 new nursing staff has been appointed. Construction of the new hostel complex spending Rs 14 crore also is underway.

With three floors, the hostel for paramedics has 50 rooms, 12 toilet blocks, three recreation rooms, three reading rooms, a room for the warden, dining hall and kitchen.
The pharmacy with eight counters has been modernised spending Rs 35 lakh.
