Bengal man robbed, 1 held in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: In high drama, people nabbed one of the two youth who robbed a mobile phone and cash from a migrant laborer at knifepoint near RS Puram in Coimbatore.
According to police, Ashok 23, a migrant laborer from West Bengal, staying in RS Puram-Sampantham road, works as a goldsmith in a workshop here. Ashok along with his friend Hydar Ali, were walking towards their room after having tea at RS Puram on Sunday night, when a duo on a motorcycle, intercepted and threatened them at knifepoint and snatched Ashok’s mobile phone and cash Rs 12,500.
When the duo tried to escape on their bike, Ashok chased them raising an alarm. He was able to catch hold of the bike-driver, which then went out of control and hit a wall. The pillion rider jumped out and escaped from the spot.
People crossing the stretch caught the bike-driver red-handed, gave him a good thrashing and handed him over to RS Puram police. The poor guy was identified as Yuva Raj, 24, from Selvapuram, police said. Preliminary investigations showed that his associate is one Sadam, 20, and police have launched a search to nab him.
