Two students killed as car collides with tanker in Namakkal

The car was completely damaged under the impact of the collision and the two occupants of the car succumbed to injuries almost instantly.

Namakkal: Two college students were killed on the spot after the car in which they were travelling collided head-on with a water tanker near here on Sunday.

Police said the car was moving on the Kumarapalayam to Veppadai road on Sunday morning and as it approached Kavettiyankadu the four-wheeler collided against the water lorry.

The car was completely damaged under the impact of the collision and the two occupants of the car succumbed to injuries almost instantly. On information, Kumarapalayam police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies of the two students from the mangled car. The victims were identified as Santhosh, 20, and his friend Saravanan, 21, who hailed from Kumarapalayam.

Both the tragic victims were third year civil engineering students studying at private colleges in Chennai and Erode respectively. Kumarapalayam police registered a case and launched further probe.
