Register case against 3 actors: Madras High Court
Chennai: Madras high court has directed the Central Crime Branch personnel to register case against actors Nasser, Vishal and Karthi, office-bearers of South India Artists Association, if cognizable offence is made out in connection with allegation of misappropriating funds of the association.
Justice M.S. Ramesh, before whom a petition filed by Varaaki, a member of the association, came up for hearing, passed the order. Varaki filed complaint before CCB, Team 2 of Vepery, Chennai on October 1, 2016, alleging misappropriation of funds in the pretext of conducting star cricket show and awarding tender for telecasting the show in a television channel.
He alleged that expenses were shown twice and also telecasting rights of the show was given to Sun TV even without taking a decision in the general body of the association.
The decision was taken without following the procedures as per by-laws of the association. They also collected several crores of rupees by conducting the star cricket show as sponsorship after fabricating false accounts.
Justice Ramesh directed the police to register a case if any cognizable offence is made out in the complaint.
