Cyberabad police asks residents of Bandari layout to vacate

T. Padma Rao, Mr T. Srinivas Yadav, Mr Mahamood Ali, and others visited a few rain-hit places.

Hyderabad: Cyberabad police has asked flat owners at Bandari Layout, who have been badly affected by the ongoing heavy rains, to vacate to safer places. After the visit of municipal minister K.T. Rama Rao on Thursday afternoon, officials decided to vacate the apartments on the banks of nalas.

With the minister directing officials to come up with an action plan to control the situation at Bandari Layout and begin rescue operations, officials including GHMC and Cyb-erabad police began vacating flats at road numbers 8, 9 and 10 of the locality.

Mr P. Vijaya Ravindra Babu, a resident of Chai-tanya Classic Apartment in Bandari Layout, said that police began the vacating operation on Thursday night. By Friday evening about 20 per cent flats were vacated. “They are only insisting, not forcing people to vacate. In our apartment complex 20 out of 30 flats were vacated,” he said.

Cyberabad police commissioner Sandeep Shandilya said they had identified about six apartments which should be vacated immediately. “The government is providing accommodation to the families of these apartments at hotels and other buildings. Madhapur zone police will continue the operation on Friday night and Saturday morning,” he said.

He added that special pickets would be established at these apartments for prevention of thefts. Meanwhile ministers Mr T. Padma Rao, Mr T. Srinivas Yadav, Mr Mahamood Ali, and others visited a few rain-hit places and directed officials to provide rehabilitation to people.
