Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday stayed the construction of the Mallanna-sagar reservoir, which is the part of the Kaleshwaram project, in Thoguta, Etigadda Kistapur and Pallepahad villages for a week.
The Green Bench comprising Justice A. Rajasheker Reddy and Justice P. Naveen Rao was dealing with petitions of oustees whose land was acquired for the reservoir, alleging that the state refusing to pay the the rehabilitation and resettlement package.
Among the affected are landowners and agricultural labourers who depend on the land.
With the government refuting the allegation, the court had sought a report within two weeks, after conducting a door-to-door survey, on compensation paid to the oustees.
The government failed to submit the report on Friday and the bench issued the stay orders.
When the petitioners complained that the the authorities were cutting power supply to their houses, the judges directed the authorities to restore the supply.
