Punnapra police searches for missing man in sea
ALAPPUZHA: Punnapra police has started a search in the sea after a youth went missing. He was abducted by a four-member gang in front of liquor selling outlet at Punnapra on Thursday.
According to the police, two accused, who were taken into custody in connection with case, had confessed that they had killed Manu alias Kaka Manu, 27, Randutha-iveliyil, Paravoor here and dumped his body off Punnapra coast.
However, we have got no proof to substantiate their claim. We are unable to go by the statement as they used to change their claims during interrogation.
So we haven’t registered their arrest so far. It has been found that two others in the gang are also missing. So we are conducting a search in the sea based on the statements,” said Punnapra police.
Earlier, the police had recovered a CCTV footage which showed the gang took him away in a vehicle from near the Bevco outlet in Punnapara. The dead man was released recently from the jail after being detained under KAAPA.
The investigation began after Manoharan, father of the dead man, registered a man missing case', police said.
