I Monetary Advisory: SIT sends summons to Mansoor’s Dubai partner

Mansoor, before fleeing the country on June 7, had handed over Rs 9 crore to Abbas after selling around 38 kg of gold ornaments.

Bengaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT), currently probing the multi-crore I Monetary Advisory (IMA) investment scam running into over Rs 4,000 crore, has issued a summons to one of the Dubai-based business partners of IMA Group MD and scam kingpin Mohammad Mansoor Khan.

Though the state government led by Mr B.S. Yediyurappa has handed over the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the central agency is yet to take over the case.

The SIT issued the notice to Mansoor's friend and Dubai-based business partner Abbas after it stumbled upon a financial transaction between the two, sources said.

Mansoor, before fleeing the country on June 7, had handed over Rs 9 crore to Abbas after selling around 38 kg of gold ornaments. Abbas received the money when he was in India as an investment in a hypermarket he owns in Dubai, the sources said.

“But it is not certain yet whether Abbas transferred the money to Dubai or kept it in India,” an SIT officer said.

The SIT has also learnt that Mansoor gave money to his close friends to keep it safe before fleeing the country, which indicated that he had planned his escape in advance, the officer said.

When in Dubai, Mansoor stayed with Abbas and had struck business deals and was planning to run multiple businesses in Dubai through partnership deals.
