Hyderabad: A 53-year-old man from the city, who was arrested on the charges of raping his minor daughter was convicted by a court on Friday. The court directed the accused to undergo five years of rigorous imprisonment and pay Rs 5,000 towards penalty.
According to the Cyberabad police, the incident was reported on July 12, 2014, when the girl, who was then 10 years old, informed her teacher about the sexual assault by her father. The District Child Protection Unit was informed about the incident who then lodged a complaint with the police.
The police said that the girl was being sexually assaulted for two years before she informed the school teacher. Her father had threatened his daughter against disclosing the rape to anyone.
A case was registered in this regard under Sections 376 (2) (ii) F(1) and Section 4 of the POCSO Act at Alwal police station and the father was arrested.
The case was chargesheeted before the metropolitan sessions judge court at LB Nagar, who conducted a trial. On Friday, the judge convicted of the offences, and imprisoned him for five years and asked to pay Rs 5,000 as penalty, the police said..
