Telangana government adviser meets Election Commission officials
Hyderabad: Keeping up the suspense over going for early elections for assembly, Telangana state government’s chief adviser Rajiv Sharma met officials of the Election Commission in New Delhi on Thursday.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao met Telangana Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan at the Raj Bhavan. On Wednesday, in a meeting with ministers, Mr Rao had asked for their opinion on early elections. While some ministers opposed the move, they, however, wanted Mr Rao to take a final decision. These meetings have generated political heat.
On the directions of CM, Mr Sharma along with state government special representative in Delhi K.M. Sahani met Central Election Commissioner Ashok Lavas in Delhi. According to sources, they discussed the possibilities of conducting the elections along with four other states in the month of December and in that case when the Assembly has to be dissolved. If the election commission responds positively, the CM may dissolve the Assembly in September, sources said.
Mr Sharma also met Attorney General K.K. Venugopal and took his advice on this issue.
