Hyderabad: Three elected ward members of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) have proposed a no-confidence motion, stating that the current vice-president’s tenure ended on April 28, according to their internal agreement.
The agreement gives an opportunity for one year to each member to serve as vice president. The vice-president, in turn gave a clarification regarding the same on Thursday at the Cantonment Board office.
Incumbent vice-president of the SCB, J. Rama Krishna said, “The agreement was not done in the presence of ministers and officials. It was an internal deal between the board members, but there was also a clause, which stated if the member proved to be capable by doing commendable work he could continue. I am doing justice to my position. So now, I do not have a reason to step down. Some of my fellow party members also feel the same and therefore support me.”
The vice-president refuted allegations that there was “no development in the Cantonment Board” and said that it was in his tenure, with the assistance of the state government, that the cantonment board was able to avail state welfare schemes.
