Outer Ring Road Corridor will be ready by March: Mayor Sampath Raj
Bengaluru: The signal free corridor between Nayandahalli junction to Silk Board on Outer Ring Road (ORR) will be ready by March 2019, assured Mayor Sampath Raj.
Following large scale complaints about the delay in completion of flyover at Dr. Muthuraj circle, as part of signal free corridor the mayor inspected the project on Thursday and directed them to complete by March next year.
Since the traffic flow was getting choked the BBMP had planned signal free corridor to provide for seamless traffic. The BBMP had proposed to spent Rs. 153 crore covering 16 kms.
About five major junctions would be addressed along the outer ring road. KEB junction, Dr. Muthuraj junction, Food world junction, Dollars Colony Junction and Jedimara junction are the junctions that were identified to solve the problem.
The delay at the Dr. Muthuraj junction flyover was attributed to hard rock and shifting of the utilities besides seeking permission for traffic diversion. The BBMP authorities also said that there was delay in permission from the traffic cops to divert the traffic and the traffic flow was diverted only partially, the authorities claimed.
Mr. Sampath came down heavily against the contractor and engineers and directed them to complete the project at the earliest considering the traffic congestion on the busy outer ring road
