Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Thursday suspended the operation of the GO No 78 issued by the Telangana government enhancing fees for the PG Super Speciality medical courses in private unaided medical colleges in the state.

A division bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice J. Uma Devi while dealing with the petition by Dr Y. Anil Reddy granted interim stay and directed the authorities to explain the reasons that the state government had for enhancing the fees without the recommendation of the Fee Regulatory Commission.

The counsel for the petitioner told the court that the Medical and Health Department issued the GO on August 14, 2018 fixing the fee at Rs 25 lakh for the PG Super Specialty medical course and till date the authorities have not placed the GO in the public domain.

Suspending the government order for two weeks, the bench directed the authorities to file their counter affidavits within two weeks.
