Hyderabad: Srisailam gates opened after heavy inflows

3,19,948 cusecs of water is being drawn from reservoir.

Kurnool: With the Srisailam reservoir receiving heavy inflows, eight spillway gates were lifted on Thursday and released 2,18,360 cusecs of water to the Nagarjunasagar.

Presently 3,19,948 cusecs of water is being drawn from the reservoir, including 72,825 cusecs for power generation purposes.

The officials of the reservoir lifted eight gates upto 10 ft after getting permission from the government. However, the inflow is continuing with 2,56,993 cusecs from both Krishna and Tungabadhra rivers. At present the floodwater has arrived 883.30 ft of the dam as against the FRL 885 ft.

Presently, all 13 generators of both power stations were continuing power production. As per the officials, seven units of Andhra Pradesh power house were producing 747 mega watts of power by utilising 30,447 cusecs of water from the Srisailam reservoir. And six units of Telangana power house were producing 910 mega watts of power by utilising 42,378 cusecs of water from the same dam.
