Bengaluru: In the wake of monsoon getting active in the city, Mayor Sampath Raj held a meeting with the authorities of Storm Water Drain (SWD) and directed them to ensure that the water flows off smoothly at all the four storm water valleys.
After the meeting he told reporters that the officials have been directed to draw a contingency plan across all the four valleys like Vrishabhavathi, Challaghatta, Hebbal and Koramangala.
The officials have been directed to inspect the drains at a distance for three kilometers from the jurisdiction of the BBMP and to provide a report. They must ensure that the water flows off smoothly by clearing the congestion and by remodeling the drain, if necessary, he said.
The BBMP has appointed engineers at all the SWDs. Further, the BBMP also plans to take up encroachment removal drive.
