Bengaluru: BJP leader's Rs 2.87 cr stolen from house

Anil Menasinakai had contested against H.K. Patil from Congress and lost.

Bengaluru: A realtor and a BJP candidate, who had unsuccessfully contested from Gadag Assembly Constituency, lost Rs 2.87 crore in cash, which he had kept in his friend’s house in Rajajinagar.

Anil Menasinakai had contested against H.K. Patil from Congress and lost. Anil had kept the money at his friend V.J. Hariprasad’s house.

Now Hariprasad’s sister Saroja Prabhu has filed a complaint with the Rajajinagar police stating that Anil had given Rs 2.87 crore on April 19, for safe keeping and they had kept it inside a cupboard.

However after the election on May 21, when Anil came to collect the money, they found it was missing from the cupboard.

The family suspects one of their relative, Veena, who had visited their house twice during that period.

The police said that the cupboard was not forcefully opened as there were no marks and they suspect someone known had taken away the money.

However the police also found it odd that the complaint was filed after three months.
