Coimbatore: Most children play equipments at VOC Park play ground in Coimbatore are damaged, which makes children vulnerable to injuries. Seats of small and large slide and swings are broken. These broken edges are sharp enough to cause injury to children.
Rusted nuts and bolts are found loose in many of play equipments. Entire play area is scattered with sharp, pointed ends of broken equipment. Some of them are a few inches in length, which capable to cause serious injuries to children.
“Corporation administration should initiate steps to change damaged play equipment to ensure safety of children. They should ensure quality of new equipments.” said K. Sundar of Saibaba Colony, who visited park with his three-year-old son.
