Chennai: A beautifully carved granite idol of Panchamukha Herambha Ganapathy made in Chennai will adorn the ancient Sri Tripurasundari Chandramouleeswarar temple, Keelapattu village in Nagari, this Ganesh Chathurthi.

The two-and-a-half feet high idol along with His mount the mouse and Bali peetam will be gifted to the temple by the Jaya Gardens Friends Association. This is the 25th pillaiyar, the association members would be giving to a temple. “Every year, we make it a point to engage a sthapathi and make an idol of Lord Ganesh and gift it to an ancient temple on Vinayaka Chathurthi. This time we have decided to give the Lord’s idol to the Nagari temple,” says V. Subramanian, of the association.

On their silver jubilee year of the noble gesture, the members conceived the idea of making the Panchamukha Herambha Ganapathy and accordingly it was readied last week. The idol would be kept for puja here for three days from Friday and thereafter handed over to the temple authorities.
