Hyderabad: Demand for domestic Ganesh idols, which range from six inches to one feet, has increased, leaving a rise in their prices, too.
Though major idol-makers blamed it on GST and other issues, clay idol-makers increased the prices based on the wholesale prices of other idols.
K.V. Raghupathi, a clay Ganesh idol seller at Shivam Road, said that there was no change in the prices of clay compared with last year. However, the price rise was witnessed due to an increase in demand.
“We need to bear more rents and power bills for a short period. This time, the owners increased rents. So, we have to increase the prices,” he said.
