Chennai: Top 61 students have already joined colleges

He secured 260th rank in Neet and joined the Coimbatore Medical College under all India quota.

Chennai: As many as 61 top rankers including R. Santhosh from Hosur who secured the first rank in the MBBS rank list, have already joined medical colleges under 15 per cent all India quota.

G.M. Mukesh Kanna, from the state board, has left engineering course in PSG College of Technology to pursue the MBBS course. He secured 260th rank in Neet and joined the Coimbatore Medical College under all India quota.

“I will not attend MBBS counselling as I got my preferred college in all India quota," he told Deccan Chronicle. He got the second rank in the merit list

Aishwarya Srinivasan from Chennai who got 4th rank in the merit list has already joined the Madras Medical College in all India quota. The student from CBSE board has secured 646 marks in Neet and got 395th rank at all India level. “I want to specialise in cardiology,” she said.

Mustansir Aziz Kitabi and Manas Das both secured 17th and 28th rank in the MBBS merit list wanted to change their medical college after choosing it under the all India quota on Wednesday. They both got seats in the Government Omandurar Multi Super Speciality Hospital and Medical College and they wanted to switch to Madras Medical College.

Manas Das did not attend the second round of MBBS counselling to remain eligible for admission under state quota.

“MMC is known nationwide and also has a better patient footfall. As Omandurar is new medical college, we are not very keen in studying there,” Mustanzir Aziz said.

However, post the release of the merit list, the selection committee stated that it is not in their hands. Finally, they decided to take up the seats in the Omandurar Government Medical College.
