66 kg ganja seized, five arrested from Hyderabad
Hyderabad: Sleuths of the DCP Commissioner’s Taskforce here bust a ganja racket and nabbed five members of the gang that was supplying the weed to customers in the city. Packs of 66 kilos of the weed that the gang procured from Vizag have been seized. The gang consisted of kingpin Manoj Lal Mallik, K. Ramchander, both residents of Hyderabad, and V. Kondababu, S. Tirupathi and M. Bangaraiah from Vizag.
Taskforce chief B. Limba Reddy said Mallik, a Kirana merchant from Jummerat Bazaar, ente-red into this business as he saw it as a profitable business. Police nabbed Konda Babu, Tirupati and Bangaraiah while they were handing over ganja they brought here to Mallik. Cops seized 66kg of ganja and Rs 7,000 in cash from them. The arrested men and the material were handed over to Shahinayathgunj police station.
He would procure ganja from villages near Vizag for Rs 3,000 per kilo and sell it for upto Rs 6,000 in the city. After a few months, he started purchasing the weed regularly from Kondababu, Tirupati and Bangaraiah. He also enlisted seven persons to deliver ganja to customers. They were Lokesh Singh, Ram Chander, Saleem, Prakash, Kumar, Banti and Ajay. “These men delivered ganja to customers across the city and Mallik paid them Rs 300 to Rs 500 as commission for each delivery based on the quantity,” Mr Limba Reddy said.
