Low-lying areas of North Telangana on alert

ADILABAD: Officials of Nirmal, Mancherial, Adilabad and Komaram Bheem Asifabad districts on Saturday alerted people living in low-lying areas after heavy rains started again.

The resulting floods have led to water overflowing even on main roads. Road transport and connectivity to many villages has been affected.

Khanapur and Mancherial MLAs Rekha Naik and Diwakar Rao visited Kadem Dam and inquired about the latest inflows and discharges of floodwaters. They inspected the gates and bund and inquired about details of damage caused to them.

Akshitha, 6, died when she accidentally fell into the small tank near her field at Guruja village in Gudihathnoor mandal of Adilabad district on Friday. Villagers fished out her body on Saturday morning after a long-drawn effort amid rains and floods. Akshitha had arrived with her parents to look after their farm.
