Farmers demand compensation after rains destroy standing crop in Adilabad

Adilabad: Incessant rains destroyed standing crops in thousands of acres and standing crops cotton, soya and program are getting damaged due to heavy waterlogging much to the chagrin of farmers. The abundant weeding that has grown due to incessant rains in the fields has become a major nightmare. This will cause an additional financial burden on the farmers.

BJP leaders, led by Palvai Harishbabu, visited the inundated cotton crop on the outskirts of Ankusapur gram panchayat in Kagaznagar mandal and noticed large-scale destruction. He demanded the revenue and agriculture officials to conduct a survey to estimate the loss and pay compensation to the farmers.

The worst hit were fields in Kagaznagar, Bejjur, Penchikalpet, Sirpur (T), Kerameri, Bejjur, Jainoor, Lingapur , Sirpur (U), Boath, Neredigonda, Mamada, Sarangapur, Dilawarpur and Loheshwaram mandals in old Adilabad.

Congress leader Bharath Chowhan, who visited Pembi mandal, demanded the state government to pay suitable compensation for damaged crops.
