Thiruvananthapuram: Medicos see revenge on whistleblowers

The college has only admitted one batch of students in 2016 after which it was not permitted to admit them citing lack of infrastructure.

Thiruvananthapuram: The students of SR Medical College, Varkala, have alleged that the management was taking revenge on 11 students who had brought out the irregularities in the college.

While the students were not allowed to sit for the examinations citing lack of attendance, those with less attendance were permitted to write the examination.

The students had also approached the High Court and various other authorities, including Governor P. Sathasivam, seeking a transfer to other government or self- financing medical colleges in the state. .

Earlier, they had alleged that the managements had used patients on rent for misleading the team from Medical Council of India during its inspection of the college.

The college has only admitted one batch of students in 2016 after which it was not permitted to admit them citing lack of infrastructure.

They had also released Facebook visuals of workers of NREGA scheme allegedly being brought to the college in a vehicle through the backside of the college.

Most students have already paid Rs 44 to Rs 55 lakh as the full fees for the entire course. They have sought immediate government intervention to ensure proper faculty and facilities in the college so that they can complete the course.

They claimed that the management was taking disciplinary action, including suspension and registering false police cases against them, and threatening them.
