Karimnagar: Case against lawyer for cheating

The complaint was sent to the Karimnagar Two Town police by registered post and a case booked.

Karimnagar: High Court lawyer G.V. Nagamani has lodged a complaint with the Karimnagar Two Town police against senior lawyer of Karimnagar District Court E. Madhusudhan Rao and his assistant Harish Kumar alleging that they were “cheating”. The complaint was sent to the Karimnagar Two Town police by registered post and a case booked.

According to the police, the genesis was a cheating case lodged last year against Hyderabad resident Poosa Krishna and others under IPC Sections 406, 420, 384, and 506 at the Husnabad police station. The police arrested Krishna on December 28, 2018. The complaint said Krishna approached Mr Madhusudhan Rao who put up bail papers in the Husnabad court. When the court rejected it, Mr Madhusudhan Rao applied for bail in the Karimnagar court on January 7, allegedly without filing the dismissal orders of the Husnabad court, Ms Nagamani’s complaint said.

The Karimnagar court asked Mr Madhusudhan Rao to produce the letter of arrest and the Husnabad court orders and returned the bail papers on January 8. He put up another bail petition in the Husnabad court on January 8, the complaint stated.

When it came up for hearing on January 10, Ms Nagamani alleged, Mr Madhusudhan Rao applied for bail in the Karimnagar court the same day by reportedly forging the signatures of authorities along with a statement ‘Objections Rectified’ on a copy of the bail papers submitted in the Husnabad court.

Ms Nagamani said when the case came to hearing in the Fifth Additional District Court in Karimnagar, she put up counter petitions.

She alleged that on learning about this, Mr Madhusudhan Rao allegedly downloaded a photograph of a police officer, morphed it to make it appear that he was the Husnabad police officer investigating the case, forged his signature along and submitted it at the Karimnagar court.

She claimed she recognised the man in the photograph as a security officer of the High Court Chief Justice and then lodged the complaint against Mr Madhusudhan Rao and his assistant Harish Kumar.

The police has lodged cases against Mr Madhusudhan Rao and Mr Harish Kumar under IPC Sections 120 (B), 420, 465, 468 and 471 and started an investigation.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Madhusudh-an Rao condemned the allegations. He claimed that Ms Nagamani had lodged a cheating case against Krishna alleging that he had cheated her by promising to set up a solar power plant project worth crores of rupees.“Having a personal grudge on me Ms Nagamani has lodged the case against me, I have asked the police to investigate the case thoroughly and find out the facts,” he said.
