Finance Bill must be passed before July 31
Bengaluru: The collapse of the coalition government has left a big question on the fate of the state budget which was pending before the Legislature for approval.
When contacted, chief secretary, T.M. Vijay Bhaskar replied that once a new government was formed, it had to pass the budget before July 31.
"If the new government does not want to pass the old budget, it can get a vote on account and then prepare a new budget and get it approved," he said.
In the event that President's rule is imposed, the finance bill has to be taken to Parliament which has to approve it before this month end, Mr Vijay Bhaskar clarified.
End for marriage of convenience?
There is also a question mark over the continuation of the Congress-JD(S) coalition after the government lost the confidence vote in the Assembly with
KPCC president Dinesh Gundurao telling this newspaper that it was a difficult question to answer.
"I cannot reply to this, I have to consult other senior leaders here and in Delhi and then we will take a decision," he said.
