His parents, Vithal Shenoy and Shyamala, belonging to Irumpanam, near Thripunithu-ra, are waiting for further information from Siju, who had called them on Friday. The company officials have informed them that all the crew members, including Siju, are safe.
“The company officials keep updating us every two hours. In the last call, they told us that a team of representatives from the company will visit the crew soon,” Siju’s mother Shyamala said.
Siju has been working with various shipping companies, including Stena Bulk, for the past 19 years.
Earlier, Dijo Pappachan, 26, son of T.V. Pappachan and Deena Pappachan residing near Cochin University of Science and Technology (Cusat) campus at Kalamassery, was identified to be onboard the UK-flagged ship. He joined the shipping company and started as a Messman in the ship on June 12.
