Work on six-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru highway from September: H D Revanna

Bengaluru: Work on the six-lane Bengaluru-Mysuru highway project is set to begin in September with 80 percent of the land acquisition set to be over in 10 days. Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna said that once land acquisition is completed, the land will be handed over to NHAI.

The development of the six-lane highway has been divided into two parts- Part A is from Bengaluru to Nidagatta covering 54 km with a project cost of 2,334 crore while Part B is from Nidagatta to Mysuru, covering 61 km. with a project cost of 2,685 crore. The NHAI had approved a 27,000 crore project to develop Bengaluru-Mysuru, Tumakuru- Shivamogga, Belagavi-Khanapur, Khapur- Goa highways covering a distance of 2000 km.

Meetings will be held under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to review the status of the highway projects, the minister said. The government has also submitted a Rs 250-crore proposal to the Centre to develop Charmadi Ghat. On the filling of potholes, Revanna said this will be taken up once the monsoon is over. He expressed displeasure over some TV channels showing visuals of the renovation of his bungalow. “I had ordered department officials to give the building one coat of paint, I have not ordered renovation of the bungalow”, he said.
